    Crouton and Dubstep

    Meet Crouton and Dubstep 💜
These two beautiful, quirkily-named brothers couldn't be more different if they tried but they've been a joy to share our house with.
Crouton is a real gentle giant. Sensitive and kind he loves food above all else and will need an eye kept on him so he doesn't overeat either his own, his brother's or if you're not careful your food! He's confident with unfamiliar people, will put up with cuddles and is really content to hang out in your proximity or sometimes sprawled across you - you definitely know when he's lying on you!
Dubstep is much smaller, rather squirrelly and definitely lacks confidence with people and new things. He's taken a long time to warm up to some members of our house and still spends most of his time in one bedroom. He is however extremely sweet, will curl up for extended strokes on a lap and can be very chatty when he wants some food! His long hair has a tendency to get matted so he needs fairly regular brushing which can be easier said than done but is normally achievable with a bit of patience. Surprisingly although he's much smaller and will get startled off his food he's happy to boss his brother around if they end up competing over dinner.
They'd like to stay together in a quieter home with a garden away from busy roads.
Crouton has recently had a dental and Dubstep has a heart murmur - his pro BNP blood test was negative which means it's benign and should never cause any issues.
6 yrs old, neutered, chipped, vaccinated plus come with 5 weeks free insurance.
  • Lexi

We have another beautiful tabby, Lexi, who was kindly adopted from a family member to keep her safe but she hates the children in her new home unfortunately and won't come indoors now. Her owners know it's not fair on her and want her to have a new home in time for Winter where she can be inside in the warm whenever she wants.
"We adopted a female cat named Lexi nearly a year ago from a family member. She’s 9 yo, grey, no health issues, neutered and chipped. She was from an adults-only household and we have two young children. She does not like children and spends most of her time outside or avoiding the kids. She hisses at them and I don’t think she is going to warm to them sadly.
We think, given the circumstances, it’s kindest to rehome her to a home with just adults where she can be indoors when she pleases. Would you be able to help us please? We can keep her until an adoption is sorted. We have toys, a basket, food bowl, and a scratching post to go with her too."
Lexi is still with her owners and comes with 5 weeks free insurance.
  • Jet and Rufus

Jet is a lively little girl, only a baby herself at about 1 year old and has been a great mum to her babies. She is a typical young cat, interested in everything, likes a bit of fuss but is happiest when exploring and playing with her kittens – for playing read chasing around the house like a mad thing! She is friendly, has just become a lap cat and can be spooked by sudden noises or movements but this has been happening less and less the longer she has been in foster. Her baby boy Rufus (nicknamed "Legs" as they are so long!) loves to play but can be a bit shy – however, dangle a toy or offer him a treat and he gets a lot less shy! He gets very protective of his toys and will growl if someone else tries to take his toy when he is enjoying a game of chase by himself. He's 12 weeks and on the bottom in the photo (we think! His two sisters are off to a new home together). They've met older children (10+) and were fine and they'll need a garden away from busy roads. Jet is neutered and chipped and they've both had their first vaccinations.
  • Sky

    ,
Sky is a 2 and a half year old. She can be tentative around people and would suit a quieter home. Sky likes to curl up somewhere hidden away and watch what’s going on, but she has an incredibly loud purr and, when she’s feeling confident, will happily sit on a lap or curl up next to you for hours for some fuss. She’s also well behaved with using her litter tray. Sky is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped, plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance
  • Poe, Mo and Bugzy

Three gorgeous rescued teenagers looking for a home together please or as a pair and a single 💜
These babies were all rescued separately but have become best friends with their owner who can sadly no longer keep them.
Poe the black beauty is 7 months and a gentle boy who loves cuddles and climbing trees though he does need to be rescued occasionally!
Mo the little cow kitty is 5 months and very affectionate and needy, he loves to play and must be homed with one of the others for company.
Bugzy is the gentle girl, also 5 months, who likes to run between your legs and be a trip hazard! She loves the boys but is scared of other cats.
It would be lovely if they could all stay together but we know that's a big ask.
They need a garden away from busy roads are all neutered, chipped, vaccinated plus come with 5 weeks free insurance.
They're still with their owner to save them the stress of a move into foster.
  • Nhema and Loki

    ,
More gorgeous kittens looking for a home together 💜
Meet Nhema and Loki, the adorable duo.
These boys are about 9 weeks old and are little stars - fully litter trained, great appetites and excel at being cute. Their favourite game is chasing each other from room to room for hours on end but you can always find them curled up together for naps.
Nhema is bigger than Loki and loves his food more, often growling at his brother if he comes near during feeding time. He is independent and more of an explorer. Loki is smaller, less brave and will often climb on your lap when he is tired of chasing his brother. Both love to play with anything and everything and they cry if separated.
They are looking for a home with a garden away from busy roads and lots of playtime and cuddles - they've never met children but should be fine with older ones.
Chipped, had first vaccination plus come with 5 weeks free insurance.
  • Bella

Bella needs some TLC 💜 This beautiful little puss had been a pet but arrived with us absolutely terrified and shaking with fear and we have no idea what her previous life was like for her to have caused this. We put her in a large dog crate to begin with to help her feel secure and to stop her hiding - her fostermum has worked wonders with her and she needs an experienced, understanding owner to continue her rehab. "After a few days I started wrapping her up in a blanket to give her some forced love and to show I am nothing bad. You could see she enjoyed the cuddles and her internal struggle was strong! When I was home I started leaving the crate open so she had the chance to explore on her own terms. When she was sure I wasn't paying attention she would race out of the cage and find a hiding space. I have lost her more than once - the places she has found and how small she can make herself! When I started leaving her out overnight she did everything she could to get under my sofa. I would get her out from there in the morning and she would run back to safety in the crate. We kept the crate for a few weeks until she was more out than in and it was no longer her main safe place, I don’t see how her transformation could have worked without that crate. When she is out in the open she still runs for cover but she hides more in plain sight like under the table or her other safe place: inside a shelf unit where you can still see her. She is a very playful 16 month old cat, slowly growing her confidence, curious and causing all kinds of trouble letting her inner kitten come out. Sitting in the window and watching people and birds is a big hobby. Playtime will help her forget her fears. When you lay down on the sofa or bed she feels safe to approach you for cuddles and will lie on or beside you. Last few weeks she has started to sleep with me in bed. Or why sleep some nights when you can just collect your toys, bring them into bed and play on top of you!? Every morning she comes straight up demanding cuddles. If you are not giving her what she wants she will tell you so by putting her paw on you :) The past few weeks she has also found her voice and will demand her food. She is very food motivated, the one time she is ready to be brave and sacrifice her life is when there is potential food to gain. She will try and steal your food on the plate, pans from cooking in the kitchen, getting into the food waste (keep it locked!). So that's the way forward with positive reinforcement it seems. She will need a special home where it is expected she will revert to her old self and start over the journey but hopefully a quicker journey this time. Quiet, not a busy environment, no children or other pets. A home with lots of love, patience, safe spaces, and occasional tough love - she can't be allowed to hide for too long. She did have a touch of conjunctivitis caused by stress and they may recur but it didn't need any vet treatment." Neutered, chipped, vaccinated plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance. • Whiskers

    ,
Whiskers needs some TLC 💜 Sweet little Whiskers was found living under a trailer on cold concrete. She'd been there for months, had no shelter and no one was feeding her :( She was very under weight and probably would not have survived another winter. She has definitely been a well loved family member at some point in her life as she’s very affectionate and loves to be fussed while relaxing on someone’s lap, purring softly and oh so gratefully. Unfortunately she's not chipped and, despite posting her on social media, knocking on doors etc, no owners have come forward and local people suspect she was another puss just left behind. She has an amazing appetite unsurprisingly and has put on some weight but seems to have lost interest in grooming herself so a daily brush from her new hoomans would go down a treat. This lovely lady would like a quieter home with no children or other pets, a warm lap and lots of fuss plus a garden away from busy roads for when she's ready to brave outdoors again. Our vets guesstimate her at 6yrs and she's presumed spayed as she's showing no signs of recent kittens or coming into season. She's chipped, vaccinated plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance. • Cosmo

    ,
Another handsome dude looking for somewhere to lay his hat 💜 Cosmo is one cool customer! He is 12 years old and comes from a home which had children so would be happy in a home with or without kids but not with any other pets. He is extremely friendly and will happily come up to ask for head strokes from anyone who wanders by, he loves the sun and will lay for hours lapping up the rays when he can. He loves attention and especially likes his face and head being scratched but isn’t persistent when he wants it, he will happily sit next to you and watch what you’re doing until you’re ready to give him attention. He will occasionally seek out your lap but prefers to sit alongside you within easy stroking distance! He is a wonderfully calm and chilled cat and only meows first thing in the morning when he’s hungry or when you’re speaking to him. He has so much love and affection to give and just needs to find his forever home to return that to him. This sunworshipper would love a garden away from busy roads to catch some rays and he loves being brushed - something you'll find advantageous as he can be prone to furballs! Neutered, chipped, vaccinated plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance. Are you ready to adopt a cat from Bristol & Wales Cat Rescue? • Poppy and Portia

A retirement home need for two glorious girls 💜
    Poppy and Portia
These two senior sisters are looking for a home together. Poppy (with the half black, half ginger face and white chest and paws) is the more spirited of the two, she's not afraid to paw at your arm (or face in bed!) and give you some firm head butts to let you know she wants some fuss. She's always gentle though, and has never used claws. She also occasionally enjoys batting at a feather stick. Portia (all tortoiseshell) is a little more reserved, but loves to have behind her ears scratched. She can be a little jumpy, but most of the time is content to snooze the day away.
Despite their age (13 years) they still sometimes display some of those naughty-tortie tendencies we all know and love – they have left tell-tale pawprints all over our freshly painted kitchen windowsill, and aren't afraid to investigate and help themselves to any tasty human food (or remains on empty plates) that have been left unattended! Oh and drinks glasses will need to be kept out of reach too – Portia has a penchant from sticking her head in them to drink, and they are both experts at knocking things off surfaces that get in their way! Poppy is also a bit pushy and will barge Portia out of the way to help herself to Portia's food once she's finished eating her own, but Portia is very tolerant of her sister's greediness! Both will let you know with loud miaows (or rather squeaks in Portia's case!) when they think it is time for food, including early in the morning!
They are both quite affectionate cats, and will come and sit on your lap for short amounts of time, but don't tend to settle. They both have their favourite spots to curl up and snooze, and would very much enjoy a safe garden away from busy roads where they could stretch out in the sunshine. Plus a quieter adult-only home.
Given their age there are a couple of little health issues their new owner will need to be aware of. Portia has arthritis in her back legs which is being managed with medication – its not a problem at all and she takes it quite happily, but means she will need to have regular blood tests (every 3-6 months). Poppy also has some signs of muscle wastage in her back legs – its not really causing her any problems at the moment but the reduced flexibility means that she will benefit from regular brushing, particularly her rear half – it's hard to reach that far to groom when you are an older lady! They have Yumove daily joint supplements added to their food, which definitely seem to help. Portia is also likely to need a dental in the future.
Both are neutered, chipped and fully up to date with their vaccinations, and come with 5 weeks free insurance. BWCR will cover the cost of the Metacam and blood tests for Portia and her dental work at Fernlea vets in Kingswood or Hanham.
  • Scrumpy

    ,
Scrumpy  - if that isn't short for scrumptious then it should be 💜
Scrumpy is a handsome 11 year old who is very young at heart - he gets the zoomies late at night and loves chasing paper balls. He's incredibly sweet natured and purrs as soon as I walk into the room or pick him up, and has taken to sleeping on the end of my bed like a guard cat.
He's recently had dental work and blood tests and the vet said he's is great shape for his age. He does have a flea allergy so needs monthly vet-prescribed flea treatments. Although he's sleek and slim, Scrumps loves his food and has a healthy appetite. A slow feeder or "licky mat" is a good idea to stop him eating too quickly!
He needs to be the only pet with no young children though older ones should be fine.
He was found by his original owner as a kitten living stray in the countryside and he often spends time on the windowsill looking out. He would clearly love to bound around outdoors so a garden away from busy roads would be his dream.
Anyone who gives a home to this gorgeous affectionate boy will be lucky to have him.
Neutered, chipped,  vaccinated plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance.
  • Rupert

Never let it be said we don't offer a wide variety of cats 😂
Next is Senor Rupert from Spain 💜
"He’s a very loving cat.  He likes nothing more than a snooze on your lap and loves all the attention you can give him.  He requires regular brushing and I have cut out the matted parts of fur he previously had.  Occasionally you will need to use some cooled boiled water to clean around his eyes as he sometimes misses his face when grooming and this will cause a build up of sleepies.
He doesn’t show much interest in wet food but will eat a good bowl of dry food every day.  He is very sedentary so would make a great pet for someone who may be older and wishes for company.  He has not scratched or bitten me or anyone else at all but he is spooked by loud noises so he needs a quieter adult-only home as the only pet.  He originated from Spain and  they performed a vasectomy so although he does still have his 'trouble nuggets' he is infertile!
He's used to going outside and lived in a rural area so needs a garden away from busy roads and someone prepared to groom him every day".
5 yrs old, neutered, chipped, vaccinated plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance.
  • Cece, Luna and Little Star

Cece and the kids are looking for a home together if anyone is up for a trio of cuteness? 💜
"Who will be lucky enough to adopt Cece (more white) and her charming children who are 6 months old?
They really are an adorable little family, Cece has brought them up well and is a wonderful role model. Cece is only 2 years old herself and, being a thoroughly modern mum, she likes to join in with some rough and tumble play time. But more often than not she likes to have an afternoon nap while they play or she sits and watches them. They are so sweet and they are all really gentle. Little Star (male) and Luna (tortie, female) are a bit fluffy which makes them even more cuddly; they enjoy being brushed but often think it's all a big game though Luna is more ladylike than Little Star, Little Star just thinks you're his personal climbing frame 😹"
Fine with older children and need a garden away from busy roads.
All neutered, chipped,  vaccinated plus come with 5 weeks free insurance.
  • Jay

    ,
Jay is a 2 and half year old. She’s playful and is very happy to occupy herself chasing around a ball or a leaf. Sometimes, she’ll even bring a ball to you so you can throw it for her. She likes to explore and will happily curl up on a lap, and even let you stroke her belly. She’s well behaved with using her litter tray. Jay is fully vaccinated, neutered and microchipped, plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance
  • Spirit and Thunder

Best buddies looking for new digs together 💜
"This duo are best friends so have to go together! Spirit and Thunder. They sometimes nap together or groom each other and it melts our hearts. Spirit is the small black female, she's just over a year old and full of love. She likes to sleep on our beds and often sits on our laps looking for rubs and cuddles.
This cheeky madam also likes to steal Thunder’s food sometimes so we have two separate bowls!
Thunder is a handsome 3yr old tabby and is a cool customer. He shies away from attention a lot of the time and doesn’t like sudden movements, but will then surprise us by asking for love and smooches which makes it all the more rewarding. He'd like a quieter home with no young children. He’s forced us to keep their dry food bags and pouches in a box as he’s a great climber and has reached his food stash on the top shelf!.
When they first arrived they hid behind the couch for two days but have come fully out of their shells. They sometimes get the zoomies and chase each other around the house and would love a garden away from busy roads to explore. Spirit isn't a fan of cat baskets so a top opener would be good for her.
Neutered ,chipped,  vaccinated plus come with 5 weeks free insurance.
  • Rocky

Rocky is an 11 year old gentle giant weighing 7 kg with a huge fluffy, smoky grey coat. His favourite place to chill is in an empty bath, with the occasional drink from the tap. He is a quiet cat who seems content with his own company or sitting in the kitchen watching the family’s coming and going. He is not a lap cat but likes a chin tickle and belly rub on his terms, and enjoys the occasional hug. He does not scratch or bite and needs a quieter household, with no young children or other pets, to gain his confidence. He came to the charity with early renal failure but our vets have confirmed that all his bloods have come back normal so it seems that his special diet of renal cat food is working :) and he needs to remain on a renal diet for the rest of his life. He also has a luxating patella ie a dislocating kneecap but his knee does not prevent him from jumping and leading a normal 11 year old cat life, the vet reported that no intervention was needed at this point. A neighbourhood with fewer cats and a safe outdoor space away from busy roads would suit Rocky. Neutered, chipped, vaccinated plus comes with 5 weeks free insurance. BWCR will cover the cost of his renal blood tests at Fernlea vets plus treatment on his knee if it's ever required. It's doubtful he'll ever need an op but he may be more susceptible to arthritis in that joint now he's an older boy. Are you ready to adopt a cat from Bristol & Wales Cat Rescue?
