Sociable Milko

Sociable Milko

We adopted Milko six months ago, and our lives have been turned upside down and inside out. The routine of the day now is for either Mike or I to go and feed him first thing and, if it is me, then he will come up to our bedroom and look for Mike and wait patiently until he is ready to go out into the garden with him. My going out with him isn’t good enough – it has to be Mike!

We are now saying hello and receiving more waves from neighbours than we ever used to as Milko seems to have visited every house in this area. If he is outside when the schoolchildren come out of school, he is ready to do his rolling around act on the drive in order to get stroked.

Our neighbour, definitely more of a dog person, is now enjoying his gardening with a helpful set of paws – in fact, they have taken a real shine to each other. He also enjoys helping with hanging out the washing, as you can see from the photograph.

Anything which has four legs which goes past gives him a chance to practise his stalking skills, and if they bark then that is even more fun. If it is raining outside then he likes to be entertained, which can mean endless games of ping pong, scratching in cardboard boxes, etc, etc.

It is difficult to believe that this time last year we were only discussing whether we could and should adopt a cat, and I am pleased to say that we most definitely made the right decision. So thank you everyone who has made both Mike and me very happy – and I think I can say the same for Milko!
